Hangouts Meet to follow with the name Google Meet


Video conferencing has been a far more important place in almost everyone's lives than before in the last few weeks. These apps are no longer used by professionals. Students and groups of friends are also in the way of their intervention. Hangouts Meet, a key part of that app community, is now on the way with the name Google Meet.

A Google Cloud blog was first written by Karthik Lakshminaracombustion, Google’s two product directors, and Smita Hashim. The post refers to the measures Google Meet has taken to prevent the penetration of online meetings. After sharing this post, the Android Police site, which went into scanning support posts, revealed that support posts were updated with the new name.

Google has confirmed a name change via an email to the Verge site. Meet is an independant part of G Suite, the company said. G Suite, Google’s corporate service portfolio, also includes brands such as Gmail, Docs, and Drive. Hangouts Chat, the short message arm of the Hangouts brand, is also part of G Suite.

Google's name change process is still in progress. For example, in the App Store, the name of the app is still named Hangouts Meet. The landing page in G Suite also has the old name.



It's worth reminding again that the move to the Google meat name was done at a time when the service was used intensively. With the global coronavirus outbreak, Google Meet's use rate has increased to 25 in january. In addition, more than 2 million new users are added to the service every day.
