New Google Chrome update meets users after two weeks of delays

Google has begun to connect the Chrome 81 update with all its users, even after two weeks of delay due to the global coronavirus outbreak. The update is made available to device owners running Linux, Mac and Windows.

As expected, Google has dropped some features planned to be released in Chrome 81 to future updates. Still, the new update has some remarkable changes.

One such change is the "app icon branding" by Google. This feature allows apps and websites to keep users informed about new activities without disturbing them. For example, unread messages in an email or chat application will be shown with a number next to the application icon.

Google has also started Origin Trial testing for the Web NFC feature. With Web NFC, Chrome will be able to read NFC tags. When this feature becomes available, users won't need dedicated NFC applications. Simply launch the browser and you'll be able to browse galleries using NFC tags for more information or read information on a badge.

Google Chrome was due to release the 81 update in march under normal circumstances. However, the company stopped updating because of the outbreak of global coronavirus outbreak and a change in business timelines. Google has previously announced that the Chrome 82 update will not be released, and will meet users in may of the Chrome 83 update.
