TikTok’s huge support package for fighting coronavirus

TikTok announced a number of charity funds and initiatives to support those fighting the coronavirus. The popular social network will thus help both those fighting the direct outbreak and those indirectly affecting the outbreak. TikTok has allocated a total of $375 million in funding. Of that, $250 million will be donated to various funds. $100 million will be offered as advertising credits. $25 million will be used for advertising areas that will be dedicated to public health information.

the $250 million grant will be distributed among the different funds. Health heroes will receive $150 million in the Fund for Support, providing health workers with both financial support and equipment support. The $40 million to the Community Support Fund will be used to help those affected by the crisis. TikTok will also double the donations to the fund by up to $10 million. So if one donated $5, TikTok will add another $5 to that person. Finally, remote training initiatives will also receive $50 million.

In addition to direct donations, TikTok will provide a $25 million advertising space for non-governmental organizations, official health care agencies and government agencies. In this way, announcements and information about the coronavirus outbreak will be more actively transferred to people.

TikTok has been criticized for a long time for tolerating the spread of the conspiracy theories related to the coronavirus on its platform. Conspiracy theories videos were not removed from the platform despite TikTok's change in service conditions last january. The social network intended to print false information that could harm people through a change.

It will also support small businesses affected by the TikTok coronavirus outbreak

The final part of the package, $100 million advertising credit, will be distributed to support small and medium businesses fighting the effects of the epidemic. TikTok said the program would become operational worldwide in the coming period, but that it would take place after authorities approved the restart of operations.

TikTok is not the only technology company to describe this kind of package to support the coronavirus outbreak and the other effects of the epidemic. Companies like Google, Apple, Facebook and Twitter are also outraged and helping to combat their impact.
